Update – 31 October 2022

The Newcombe House team would like to thank all residents, representatives from local business and local councillors for attending last week’s drop-in session at the Essex Church.

It was really good to receive everybody’s feedback on the draft proposals and we are currently reviewing all the comments we noted from the separate Council-run Residents’ Associations Briefing and Development Forum, our workshops with local residents’ groups, the webinar and through the website.

Last week also saw the erection of hoarding which seeks to ensure that the entire site is safe and secure. There is now no public access into Newcombe House and its car park, with the routes via Kensington Place/Newcombe Street and Uxbridge Street now gated or hoarded. It is hoped that this will prevent anti-social behaviour which has been experienced within the site over recent years.

Demolition contractors have been hard at work both within Newcombe House and Royston Court, the building on the corner of Kensington Church Street and Kensington Place. Unoccupied when acquired by Beltane and Angelo Gordon, Royston House contained former rough sleeper bedsits. An internal ‘soft strip’ of Royston Court has been completed and a similar exercise is underway within Newcombe House which is expected to be completed by the end of November 2022. Required remedial works to certain aspects of the degraded buildings have also taken place.

Security of the site is very important to the owners and once the contractors have finished their work at the end of November there will be 24/7 security personnel on site. Measures such as improved external lighting and repositioned/additional CCTV cameras are also currently being planned.

If you have any concerns about the site, please do get in touch either via contact@newcombehouse.info or our freephone number 0800 246 5890.
